Liner Notes and Lyrics for Mystic Rhythms of Kabbalah

The life of a mystic is a rich path of receiving and giving to the point of merging in a united flow where all boundaries are rendered invisible. The repetitive call and response style of the chants mirrors the dynamic relationship between receiving and giving; listening to God’s call, or to the yearning of our souls, and responding.

I invite you to listen, chant, and journey with me into the mystery of God in your soul.

I bless you with the openness to be inspired and receive, and the courage to be creative and respond. May this music help you cultivate unbounded awareness pointing you toward the reality that all is one. We are one, God is one, the universe is one, and they are all unified in awareness.

I thank the Source-of -All for the blessing of this music and I thank you for sharing the journey with me.

Shalom, Rabbi Sigal

RabBiLOG

1. Hineni Here I am (Hebrew: Biblical; Melody inspired by Swami Sivananda)

I chant these words remembering the trust and support I know in my life, moving from showing up, saying Hineni, to taking risks and becoming the full version of who I am at each moment, saying I will be what I will be (Eheye asher Eheye,) and always remembering God’s promise: I will be with you (Eheye Imach.)

Hineni — Eheye Asher Eheye — Eheye Imach I am here I am, I’ll be what I will be, I’ll be with you.

2. Shuvah Come Back  The flow moves from tiferet to shechinah, healing shechinah and returning it to its harmony. I call for the healing of the soul and the healing of the earth and creation interchangeably, because personal healing, collective healing, and environmental healing are all intertwined.

tashuv tiferent lah’shchinah tashuv shchinah leh’tifartah shuvah la’shechinah Balance and beauty return, The Holy Presence dwells on earth. Come back spirit heal my soul, Come back spirit make me whole.

3. Echad I am one (Hebrew: Biblical; English: Unknown)  I dedicate this song to the children at Tzedek v’Shalom congregation who love to sing and clap to it with me.

I am one and you are one and we are altogether one. In the spirit in the heart we are altogether one. Shema Israel adonai elohaynu, adonai echad.

4. memaleh v’Sovev Flowing (Hebrew: Zohar)  memaleh kol olamin v’sovev kol olamin u’mibaladecha ayin shum metziut k’lal Infusing all worlds, surrounding all worlds, and without you nothing exists at all.

5. Ozi Faith (Hebrew: Exodus 15:2)  This verse is sung on many occasions and appears in the bible several times. The words remind me of my physical and spiritual endurance and strength, a gift from God of course, and the constant song of God that is vibrating in the universe. This chant is a joyful song celebrating our human ability, power, and potential, and the spiritual sound of God’s song we hear in our hearts.

Ozi ve’zimrat yah, va’yehee li liyshuah My strength and song of God lift me up! They lift me up!

6. Sod Matok Sweet Secret (Traditional Indian melody)  When God’s grace, Hesed, is unveiled we taste only sweet sacredness. The sweet secret is revealed to us in the gift of living in growing awareness. When we forget and lose touch with that, and only taste bitterness, we can call on the flow of Hesed, God’s flow of loving-kindness and open to its transformative power. Returning back to the well of nectar.

Sod matok matza’ati hesed elohee Sweet secret I have found you, the grace of God.

7. Tachanun Supplication  Entreating God’s attributes of kindness, wisdom, love and mercy to heal. Calling on both the masculine aspect of God, Yah, and the feminine aspect, Shechinah.

Yah Adonay Shechinat El Chaneni aneni Yah, Rachmi rachmi alayi Shechinah.Wisdom, mercy, and love. Mercy, mercy Yah, Embrace me, love me, Shechinah.

8. Eyin Sof Infinite (Hebrew: Adon Olam poem)  Non-duality and the experience of resting and then merging into the One gives me the sense of ayin-sof, the infinite, that has no beginning and no end.

Beli reshit beli tachlit With no beginning and without end.

9. Nitzchi Eternal  With these words I dive into the continuum of time and space of all things and of all times; past, present, and future. As I chant I enter oneness and hear the echoes of the universe responding to me, affirming the awareness that all things were, are, and will be.

Hu hayah hoveh ve’yiheyeh. He haytah hovah ve’teheyeh Spirit, love, beauty, God—was, is, and will be.

10. Shechinah Nisteret Mysterious Presence (Traditional Jewish melody)  I wrote this poem calling to Shechinah, the feminine mysterious presence, and set it to the well known Avinu Malkaynu melody. The melody evokes God as the masculine father and king we call upon for forgiveness on the High Holy Days, while the new lyrics invoke the feminine presence, the Shechinah. The Hebrew is written in the feminine voice and directed to the shechinah.

kaveni retzoni lirtzonech karvi libi lelibech holichi oti be’darkech hasmiyi be kolech yachdini im yikarech shechinal nisteretAlign my will with yours Bring close my heart to you Guide me on your path Sound in me your voice Unite me with your essence Shechinah, mysterious presence.

Here are some general guidelines on the Art of Moving Through Prayer.

Begin with the body; focus on the lower part of the body, the legs, and the feet to establish your grounding and connection to the earth and the physical body(track 2). Then, deeply engage the breath in a slow and focused manner (track 3). Bring your attention to the pelvic area circling and moving with the beat and then flowing smoothly into the emotional fluid realm of creativity (tracks 4,5). Continue up through the heart center and the chest to a place of hearing from the heart with love (track 6). Shema, deep listening, is the realm of intellect connected to the heart and the body (track 7). Focus on your third eye (between the brows) and on connecting all of your being to it. Focusing on energetically connecting crown of the head, to the heart, and to the sole of your feet. The spiritual realm is where the meditative prayer happen (track 8). Focus on connecting yourself to the Source, upper realms, spirit, divinity, God. >From the meditation bring inspiration down with slow meditative movement (track 9) and end with a relaxation. Laying on your back relaxing all the muscels and organs to gravity and surrendering to the support of mother earth (track 10).
